A: Even on a semi-cloudy day and in lower light, our solar panels will often still provide some power to the pump. This is because a certain amount of photons still penetrate the cloud cover and hit the panel.
A: Yes, the solar water pump has dry-run protection. This means as soon as the water level gets too low or if you take it out of the water, it will automatically shut off.
A: The pump may become clogged with debris if the pool or pond is dirty. It's advisable to clean the pump regularly. Open up and remove the front and back covers to clean the filter and the two metal probe sensors on the back of the pump.

I bought my pump back in June and a couple of weeks ago it started to give out. I thoroughly cleaned it and the problem stayed the same. Could have been a faulty pump. I contacted customer service and they sent a brand new pump without hesitation. My pond is clean, my fish are happy. I’m certainly happy too.
I can't believe how well this pump/filter works. I have had trouble for years trying to clear up my 100-gallon pond, mostly I guess because the pump I had been using was 264 GPH, whereas this one is 660 GPH. This is the difference in a weeks' time! I love that it has
more than one filter. I have been rinsing them out daily, sometimes twice a day. Now that it's pretty cleared up, I probably only have to clean it once a week or so. I highly recommend!
This kit contains a pump with all the needed attachments to set up a fountaiñ and the filter housing to protect the pump. The pump filter contains foam filters and bio balls to help keep things clean. The pump is powerfully for its size and does have a control for water flow control. The included attachments include several spray heads as well as a diverter valve so one can add streamlets or whatever. My only issue was during assembly, the diverter valve screws into the pump through the top of the filter. That presents a problem of alignment. The screw part of the valve is short, making that alignment difficult. I finally screwed the pump through the lid before attaching the lid to the filter. Doing so prevented the installation of all of the bio balls.

Super easy to set up! Nice durable materials! The pump is fairly strong, gives a nice medium height for the fountain. The filter balls definitely help keep the spout clear from clogs! The only thing I did do different was add rocks to the bottom because it tended to want to float away once my pond was filled up!

I was skeptical but this little pump seems to have the power to stick around and get the job done. It was easy to assemble and set up. The options for fountain/water exit are nice. The motor seems strong and makes very little sound. I was impressed by the length of the power cord, as well. I'll update this review after the filter has a chance to run in my pond for a month or so, but my initial impressions are good. I did add a bag around the water intake to help it stay clear of debris, which I think is just a good practice no matter which pump you use.
